Random Early Detection


Normally when a queue is full, 
packets get dropped from the tail.

This causes packetloss when traffic spikes 
(for small queues) or latency (with big queues).

RED can have a long queue but drops random
packets to indicate congestion.

Very good for high bandwidth applications.
